8. November 2019 - 10. November 2019
Under the Title "Wald(Forest)" an exhibition of a Forest took place in the mal:mal from the 9th to the 10th of November 2019. The art space mal:mal is a room in the 3rd basement floor of the "Denkmal" the longest occupied building in Bern, Switzerland. This room, an experience by itself, now gets filled with a forest whcih can not only be looked at, but also felt, smelt and heard. The whole experience follows the goal to exorcise all the stereotyped ideas around an art exhibition a viewer might have.
The discrepancy between enjoying the forest and its simultaneous destruction hovers over this cellar room. The forest in it is condemned to death, a snapshot.
Photographies of the exhibition taken by Samira Gollin and Caspar Danuser.
„mal:mal is an art space, which represents underground art. There are no price lists at its shows, in order to, for once, spare the artists of this pressure. It was founded in February 2017. Since then every month a new exhibition takes place, curated by the founder, Caspar Danuser .
Since 2019 there is also the format, „mal:mal goes...“ where mal:mal takes place in a different environment. So far this took place in Paris and Zürich. This creates a cultural exchange out-side of the commercial institutions.“
